Well, apparently it’s difficult to get into Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs. Fortunately, I applied to 4 of them plus an internship with NASA. To date, I’ve heard back from 2 of the REUs, had to pull an application from one, and NASA has been silent. But the kicker is both of the REUs I’ve heard from wanted me! I already accepted one of the research positions, so waiting to hear from the third REU site is just for curiosity’s sake.
I’m going to be doing research at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. The overall topic of my research will be programming language development and implementation, particularly with typed functional languages. Unfortunately I’ll be 6 hours from Katie, but we’ll still talk on the phone every night I’m sure. This research will look excellent on a grad school application. Other than that I’ll be buying furnishings for my apartment that I’ll be living in next year, and can take with me to grad school.
Here in a few days I’m going to upload the results of my Integrated Research Component in Simulation, so you can check under the downloads page for it in awhile.
